The Truth About Blemished Parts

Built to Work, Not to Shine

Every production run has a few parts that don’t make the top tier. Maybe it’s a scratch in the finish, a faint machining mark, or a color that came out a shade off. When that happens, we pull those parts from the main line and mark them as “blems.”

They don’t go in the trash. They go on a shelf. Over time — usually six months or more — those shelves fill with good parts that didn’t meet our cosmetic standards but still meet our performance ones. Add in the occasional returned item that was test-fitted once or twice, and you start to see what the blem shelf really is: a lineup of fully functional components that just carry a few extra stories in their surfaces.

When the time’s right, we build from that collection. Sometimes it’s a current-generation chassis. Sometimes it’s a mix of past and present parts, a one-off configuration that’ll never exist again. Each piece is inspected, marked, and sold as a blem, functional, field-ready, and priced to move.

We stamp every blem chassis so you’ll always know what it is, but that mark doesn’t mean compromise. It means you’re holding a piece built to be used, not babied.

These aren’t safe-queen builds. They’re the rifles you throw in the truck, drag through a match, and carry into the field. A little rough around the edges, maybe but just like a good rifleman, they’re all business where it counts.

  7. This suggestion may be a little bit counterintuitive, but here it goes.

Blemished parts and builds require storage space and record keeping already. That costs you time and money, never mind frustration. So…I’ll suggest that you add an option to your order system that’ll offer a discounted price (which you’re already doing) on any ordered item(s). The customer can select all items or specify for which they’ll take the offer. Works out for you. The blemish pile turns over, customers are pleased with your generosity, and everyone is happy.
